The Crown Inn and Hotel sits in the middle of the vibrant north Cotswold village of Blockley, halfway up one side of the valley and sandwiched between similarly honey-coloured stone cottages and houses. It has formed the meeting point of this village since its construction circa 1700 and has stood the test of time, being one of two left in the village where once there were eight inns. Inside you will find a warm welcome and 20 luxuriously appointed en-suite bedrooms. There is a two-part bar, a restaurant and a residents' lounge, all with open log fires where you can cosy up and relax or spend your time engaging with the locals and many passers by that frequent this famous Inn. The building itself is listed Grade II and is built in the local vernacular style of sumptuous golden stone and retains many of the features from its many uses over the years. There's the old bakery in the main entrance, and the old Victoria and Friends Society addition at the rear (now the restaurant and kitchen) which was added when Victoria took to the throne in 1837. It sits on the west side of this truly historic high street and from the top of the building you can see the other side of the valley leading to the Batsford Estate and Arboretum. The Inn is used as a local meeting place for the villagers and tourists alike and many a long evening in summer or winter can be enjoyed in the bars, exchanging stories and banter, or if you've decided on a quiet retreat, the lounge provides comfortable luxury, plenty of books and games to entertain the family.
